Pretty Good Privacy 


Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) is an encryption program that provides cryptographic privacy and authentication for data communication. 
  • A brief history of cryptography leading to the development of PGP
  • Demonstrate generating your own unique public & private keys
  • How to find your intended recipient's public key using the MIT key server
  • Discuss the PGP fingerprint - which a shorter version of a public key & what the fingerprint is used for
  • Demonstrate sending an encrypted email
  • Legal ramification of not revealing your passphrase to governmental authorities 

Finally, we intend to be responsive to our attendees so future subjects will evolve as our attendees make their interests known.
